For sale from James Kuhns:
(note shipping not included, buyer pays actual shipping, local pickup in San Diego available)
Aristo-Craft 2-8-8-2 Mallet, rare Southern Pacific. Available with also hard to find Vanderbilt tender, converted to prototype oil. Really like new, check the pictures of the wheels.
$1,200 or best offer, great price, check eBay to compare
This loco was going to become a Cab Forward but the guy who ordered it pass on before the project was started. The locomotive has only been test run.
Southern Pacific is a very rare original road name for this locomotive.
The Vanderbilt tender is converted from coal to oil. The S.P. did not have coal fired locomotives (coal load I believe is under the conversion).
The low quality Aristocraft speaker was replaced with a much big and better one and there is a custom made speaker mount.
The tender was lowered to a more prototypical height by shorting the swivel points on the tender.
The tender is completely set up for Phoenix Sound all that is missing is the sound board. A sound board can be included for an extra charge.
The locomotive to tender draw-bar pin is replace with a longer one to prevent uncoupling which is not uncommon with the stock pin. The original pin can be included.
All will be shipped in factory boxes and is like new.
LGB MIKADO INFORMATION
Santa Fe road name. Has been in storage since 2006. Was run very little before that. Had the factory drivetrain upgrade LGB San Diego (when they were still located in San Diego) before the loco was stored. (entire new drivetrain). Needs 2 traction tires (they do not last in storage)
$1200 or best offer
The loco does need traction tires but the coal load in the tender is the real thing.
There is a USA Trains coupler on the tender but if you want a Hook & Loop coupler it will be included. May not have the LGB box.
LGB TRACK CLEANER INFORMATION
Has not been used in years. Come with extra new & used sets of track cleaner wheels. LGB box (if I can find it) will be used in shipping.
This one is the model without the DCC decoder.
LGB Track Cleaner USED, $350 or best offer, remember the extra wheels are included.
ARISTOCRAFT GONDOLA SNOWPLOW
Southern Pacfic. New never used. Very hard to find any of these, not to emention this more rate road name. Has a USA Trains coupler installed, Hook & Loop and Aristocraft couplers can be included. Aristocraft box used in shipping.
$250 or best offer.
For sale from Bob Baxter:
As train shows aren't what they used to be and neither am I, I'm starting to take Parts of the Door Hollow Shortline and recreating a layout in the back of my "barn" train room.
Below is the loop that was the top of the DHS mountain. I'd like to donate it to someone who would use it. It's a loop of HO track, mounted on 3/32" plywood and is 55 inches from end to end. There was a bridge under the gap.
Below is a Trestle that I built about 15 years ago when I had really big ideas of an indoor layout. The curved LGB track is 52" tip to tip. The wooden part is 38 inches wide and is 18' from the bottom to track level. It's been a long time but I think the wood is Douglas fir. I'd like to get about $50 for it.
This building made some appearances on the Del Oro Modular layout but was too big for the DHS. It's a model of the famous Alpine Hose firehouse in Georgetown Colorado where the Georgetown loop starts. It stands 30" at the tower. The entire unit is 18" deep and the building is 11" wide and stands 14" high. The structure is thin plywood covered with vinyl sheet.
I feel that as it is the only one I know of it should be worth $150. All these items are available in Fallbrook but very difficult to ship.
My Phone is 760-213-0635 Hope to hear from you, Bob Baxter.
